our team
clark l. edmond -- founder & managing director
Clark L. Edmond (she/her/hers) is from Atlanta, GA, and lives between New York and London. After receiving her J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Master’s in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art-London in 2019, she decided to launch __crate, with the goal of making the art world more accessible for young professionals in the corporate sphere. In the past, she has worked at Jack Shainman Gallery in NYC and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. She is co-founder of Black@Sotheby's, the Black student and alumni group at Sotheby's Institute of Art. She is also a member of the New Art Dealers Alliance. In addition to founding __crate, she specializes in the intersection of art, intellectual property, and national economic strategy.
blaine baxter bilal -- co-founder & director of programming
Blaine Baxter Bilal (she/her/hers) is from Athens, GA, lives in Brooklyn, NY, and studied art history at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Blaine met Clark in NYC through mutual friends and love for emerging artists and social advocacy. In addition to __crate, she is a volunteer educator at the Brooklyn Museum, and works to progress representation, equity, and inclusion within the tech industry and arts institutions with a focus on access and education. In the past she’s worked at Slought, Temple Contemporary, and Queens Museum.
alex doyle -- co-founder & director of operations
Alexandra Delorieux Doyle (she/her/hers) is from Boston, MA and is currently based in London. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s Degree in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art-London, alongside Clark. Alex has since worked in the art world, previously in an operations and marketing capacity for an art business headhunting firm in London and New York, and now selling her art through her online business, Calvin + Co. In the past, she has worked at Arden Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Peabody Essex Museum and the New Britain Museum of American Art.
